Raising Alpacas for fiber and profit is a never-ending learning experience, which inspires us to get out of our comfort zone and learn something new. The wonderful thing is learning what can be done with the luxurious fiber from these lovable animals. A spinning wheel  and loom have been purchased and the knitting needles  and crochet hooks have come out of storage . I can attest to the old saying "One is never too old to learn something new" because I learned how to spin the fiber from our own alpacas and the knitting skills are producing some great items for resale. Being a sewing enthusiast also, I love the challenge of making wearable garments from the felted fiber. Producing hand made felt is another  process that I find enjoyable as well as weaving .  Making scarves and fabric from our own alpaca fiber is very satisfying.  The possibilities and challenges are almost endless………and profitable.
